Some BADDIA driving instructors offer driving lessons using an automatic vehicle as opposed to a manual gearbox.
Driving an automatic vehicle is easier than a manual, but not necessarily a short cut to driving safely enough to be able to take and pass the practical driving test.
Drivers and learner drivers choose to take lessons in an automatic vehicle for a number of reasons;
• Refresher lessons to regain confidence after long periods without driving.
• More mature learners may find it easier and less stressful.
• The learner may have a disability and be unable to drive a manual. (see Disabled driving section)
• A previous injury may make driving a manual vehicle difficult.
Or simply because the learner would prefer to drive an automatic vehicle for ease.
Of course, it must be remembered that passing the practical driving test in an automatic vehicle, means your licence is not valid to drive a vehicle with a manual gearbox.
